Titanic scrapboard sails on
Scrapboarding is a form of fine art collage. Here, I have used nearly every imaginable type of media available to me: pencil, acrylic paint, photographs, maps, memorabila, tea-stained newspaper and cloth. This picture shows the Titanic scrapboard with the addition of the replica blueprints as embellishments. The ship itself juts out in 3-D from the canvas. A boarding pass is at top with the letters R M S, an identifier for sea going vessels. The woman from the 1912 era is pictured at bottom. My thoughts on this were to show a heartsick soul who lost her love at sea that fateful April night when the Titanic sank.
Carol Labashosky's Barking Dog Enterprises is an art idea company featuring Scrapboarding, a unique form of fine art collage where themes materialize in 3-D. Scrapboarding combines paint, photos and memorabilia affixed to boards in dramatic vibrant compositions. Visit my studio and gallery at Mellwood Arts Center, 1860 Mellwood
