Titanic commemoration April 13, Louisville's Meidinger Tower

Preparing for "Titanica" Commemoration April 13...

A Titanic Centennial Commemoration recognizing the 100 year ill-fated journey of the Ship of Dreams will be held Friday, April 13 at noon in the Meidinger Tower lobby. Titanic-themed fine art by Carol Labashosky will be available for viewing along with cookies -- using an actual dessert recipe served on board the ship - and other memorabilia.

"The Titanic has intrigued me for years, like it has many people," Labashosky said. "The centennial spurred me to get creative and design a few scrapboards that I really love and would like to share." Labashosky's scrapboarding is a 3-D form of collage featuring painting, photographs and ephemera.

The informal showing is at the Meidinger Tower lobby, 462 4th Street, Louisville (next to Vint coffee). Stop by any time, noon-1 p.m., and have a good cookie. The exhibit and other works by the artist will be on display through April 30.
