Churchill Downs Twin Spires Acrylic Painting

This painting is a one-session acrylic painting of Louisville, Kentucky, Churchill Downs famed Twin Spires atop one of the roofs at legendary Churchill Downs thoroughbred racetrack. I used blue for the sky and lots of colors for the people pictured under the roof. They are dressed in their beautiful fashionable dresses and hats. The style is somewhat abstract and it recreates the Twin Spires masterfully. I so enjoyed doing the painting in one session. It caused me to work in deliberate steps -- blocking off colors and sections -- and work diligently on each feature of the structure and twin spires.
